Blink, and you will miss it but there is a very important word in today’s gospel…   and.

“My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”

Sometimes I don’t focus on the ‘and’ as much as I should, as much as God wants me to. I hear the word of God; I hear it when I go to Mass, I hear it when I read the Daily Gospel Reflections and I hear it when I take time out to spend time with God and pray.

And, every day, God gives us opportunities to go ‘and do it’. But, do we see these moments? Do we seize the opportunity God has given us to be a brother and sister in Christ and lift one another up? Care for one another and to love each other as Christ loves us.

Look around you right now; who are the people you see? You might be around family, friends, colleagues or surrounded by strangers. Each of them is a brother and sister, and each one of them has an opportunity to bring God’s words to life.
