God’s Family

– Tuesday, Week 16 in Ordinary Time –

‘For whoever does the will of my father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.’ (Matthew 12:50)

Family is important to Jesus and it seems that in this passage, being part of God’s family is a high priority. Even though his biological family may have been present at this time, Jesus uses his disciples to make a point about the Father’s will… and doing it! ‘Whoever does the will of my father in heaven is my brother, and sister, and mother.’ Jesus seems to put the work of salvation before biological family relationships.

This scripture leads me to the ‘Our Father’ in Matthew 6, the perfect prayer to align your life with God’s will. It is a prayer that desires God’s Kingdom to come and God’s will to be done. A prayer asking for God to sustain you daily and for his unending mercy and forgiveness to be received and given to others without measure (seventy times seven). A prayer for deliverance from all evil.

Remember, God’s persistent mercy for you today. Remember, that through Jesus, God wants you to be part of his family. Remember, He loves you. Let’s pray the Our Father today with our WHOLE heart.

Our Father…
