In today’s Gospel, Jesus prepares his disciples for his imminent departure by telling them that he will go away, but will send the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, to them. Jesus knows that the disciples are feeling sad and confused about his leaving, but he assures them that it is better for them that he goes away, so that the Holy Spirit can come to them and guide them in all truth.
As we reflect on this passage, we might ask ourselves: How am I being guided by the Holy Spirit in my life? Am I open to the promptings of the Spirit, or am I resistant to change and growth? Do I trust that the Holy Spirit is leading me in the right direction, even when the path seems difficult or uncertain?
We can also take comfort in the fact that the Holy Spirit is always with us, even when we feel alone or afraid. The Spirit is the source of our strength, wisdom, and peace, and can help us to navigate the challenges of life with grace and courage.
May we trust in the power of the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth, and may we always seek to follow the path that God has set before us.
