what is laudato si'?

Laudato Si’ is the second encyclical of Pope Francis. The encyclical has the subtitle “on care for our common home”. In it, Pope Francis calls on us to embrace the notion of integral ecology. He challenges us to hear the cries of the earth and the cries of the poor as one. He critiques consumerism and irresponsible development, laments environmental degradation and global warming, and calls on us to respond concretely by taking “swift and unified global action”.

WHAT IS A LAUDATO SI' ACTION PLAN?

The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development’s Laudato Si’ Action Platform is a space for institutions, communities, and families to learn and grow together as we journey towards full sustainability in the holistic spirit of integral ecology.

The Archdiocese of Brisbane has signed up via the Vatican platform to launch our own plan that will help us journey towards greater love for our Creator, each other, and the home we share. And in doing this the Archdiocese of Brisbane makes a strong commitment to take action to embrace Pope Francis’ vision of integral ecology.

WHY HAVE A LAUDATO SI' ACTION PLAN?

At Pentecost 2022, the Archdiocese of Brisbane launched our first Laudato Si’ Action Plan, calling us as an Archdiocese to live sustainably in the spirit of integral ecology.

Watch here as Archbishop Mark Coleridge shares why it’s so important that we embrace the spirit of Laudato Si’ and implement this action plan across our parishes and communities and the agencies of the Archdiocese of Brisbane:
