The Australian Blanket Exercise
October 6, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
$50
Join us for an interactive session that is an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Australian First Nations Peoples through storytelling and immersion facilitated by Thelma Parker, Alfredo Barahona and Connor Sarazin.
Note, this session will be preceded by the October session of the Laurel Blow Speaker Series, comprising an international panel of First Nation speakers from Canada and Australia sharing truth telling processes as the basis for reconciliation. The panel will explore the healing that can occur between First Nation peoples and the wider community when there is an opportunity to share the true history of First Nation peoples experiences of colonialism. To attend this session, please register here: https://app.tickets.org.au/eb/LBSS22_BE
This Blanket Exercise is held under the banner of the The Laurel Blow Speaker Series and is for anyone wanting to grow in understanding with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics and help make true reconciliation a reality. These Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) dialogue experiences create a common ground of language and dispel misunderstandings. The series is named after the late Butchulla Nation (Fraser Island) woman, Laurel Blow, who was a significant influence for reconciliation in the Archdiocese of Brisbane.
