Laurel Blow Speaker Series: Truth Telling, the Foundation of Reconciliation

October 6 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

In this October session of the Laurel Blow Speaker Series, an international panel of First Nation speakers from Canada and Australia will share truth telling processes as the basis for reconciliation. The panel will explore the healing that can occur between First Nation peoples and the wider community when there is an opportunity to share the true history of First Nation peoples experiences of colonialism.

After sharing their experiences, there will be a time for Q&A and conversation.

This is the second of two sessions in the series in 2022.

Note, this session will be followed by an interactive session that is an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Australian First Nations Peoples through storytelling and immersion called The Australian Blanket Exercise. If you would like to stay on and participate in the Exercise, please register separately here: https://app.tickets.org.au/eb/LBSS22_BE

The Laurel Blow Speaker Series is for anyone wanting to grow in understanding with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics and help make true reconciliation a reality. These Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) dialogue experiences create a common ground of language and dispel misunderstandings. The series is named after the late Butchulla Nation (Fraser Island) woman, Laurel Blow, who was a significant influence for reconciliation in the Archdiocese of Brisbane.
